তারপর জয়নাল স্যারের সঙ্গে আমরা প্রথম যে রুমে আলোচনা শুরু হয়েছিলো সেই রুমে যাই । রুমে ঢুকে দেখি আরও তিন জন ছেলে বসে আছে । তাঁদের সঙ্গে পরিচিত হলাম ।তাঁদের মধ্যে একজন ছিল সরলা নামক এক জায়গার (যা আমার বাড়ি থেকে পাঁচ কিলোমিটার দূরে অবস্থিত) । তাঁর নাম হচ্ছে বুদ্ধদেব সরকার (বুদ্ধ) । বুদ্ধদেবের সঙ্গে কথা বলে নিজেকে আনন্দ পেয়েছিলাম । কারণ আমি ভেবেছিলাম হয়তো আমাদের এলাকার কোনো ছেলে নেই । একে অপরের সঙ্গে কথা বলতে বলতে আচমকা সেই ভদ্রলোক রুমে প্রবেশ করেন । তিনি আমাকে ছাড়া সবাইকে একটি করে কাগজ দিচ্ছিলো । আমি চুপচাপ দাঁড়িয়ে সব লক্ষ্য করছিলাম । বুদ্ধদেবের কাগজটি হাতে নিয়ে দেখি - এটা কোনও সাধারণ কাগজ নয় । ওটা ছিল "এপয়েন্টমেন্ট লেটার" । তারপর সেই ভদ্রলোক আমাকে উদ্দেশ্যে বললেন - আপনার এপয়েন্টমেন্ট লেটার আজকে পাওয়া যায়নি । এই কথা শুনে আমাকে খুব খারাপ লেগেছিলো । পরে অবশ্য বুঝতে পারলাম তিনি আমার সঙ্গে ইয়ার্কি করছেন । শেষ পর্যন্ত তিনি আমাকেও একটি কাগজ হাতে দিয়ে বললেন- " অত চিন্তা করার দরকার নেই , এটিই হল আপনার এপয়েন্টমেন্ট লেটার " । এপয়েন্টমেন্ট লেটার হাতে পেয়ে আমি খুব আনন্দিত হয়েছিলাম । তখন আমার মনে অনেক কথা ঘুরপাক খাচ্ছিল । যেমন এতোদিনে হয়তো ঈশ্বর আমার দিকে তাকিয়েছেন । আমার বাবা মাকে আর মাঠে কাজ করতে হবে না । আমি গরীবের ছেলে হয়ে চাকুরী পাবো এটা কোনোদিনই ভাবিনি । এই কথা ভাবতেই আনন্দে দুই চোখ দিয়ে জল ঝরতে শুরু হয়েছিলো। তারপর সেই ভদ্রলোক আমাদের বললেন - " আপনারা সবাই এপয়েন্টমেন্ট লেটার এ লিখিত জোয়েন্ট এর তারিখে কলকাতা উপস্থিত থাকবেন । এই কথা শুনে আমি বাবাকে ফোন করে সমস্ত কথা বলি । আমার কথা শুনে বাবা-মা দুজনে খুশি হয়ে যায় । তারপর আমি ও প্রভাত দা ধর্মতলায় গিয়ে বাসে চেপে বাড়ির জন্য রওনা দিই । এরপর....................................।
