পরেরদিন আমরা জয়ন্তদের বাড়িতে একত্রীত হলাম। আলোচনার বিষয় হল -আমাদেরকে দুই দিন পর রানাঘাট যেতে হবে জয়নিং করার জন্য। দুইদিন গত হওয়ার পর বেরবার ঠিক আগে আমার বাবা আমার হাতে দুই হাজার টাকা তুলে দেয় আর বলে- ভাল করে মন দিয়ে ডিউটি করবি , কোনও খারাপ কাজ করবি না । জয়নিং করার পর কল করে দিস। আমি বাবা- মাকে প্রণাম করে বাড়ি থেকে বেরিয়ে যাই। আমিনপুর বাস স্ট্যান্ড এ বাসে চেপে মালদা বাস স্ট্যান্ড এ পৌঁছাই রাত আট- টা নাগাদ। হোটেলে রাতের খাবার খেয়ে টিকিট কাউন্টারে গিয়ে চারটি টিকিট কেটে নিই রানাঘাটের উদ্দেশ্যে। টিকিট কাটার পর আমি আমার সঙ্গীদেরকে বললাম আকাশের অবস্থা খারাপ লাগছে আর আমি চাকুরীর ব্যাপারে নিশ্চিত হতে পারছি না। অতএব এখনও সময় আছে আমরা এইখান থেকে বাড়ি ফিরে যেতে পারব। বাকি তিন জনই বলল- আরে চলেই আসছি যখন , তো গিয়েই দেখি কী হয় ? পৌনে নয়টা নাগাদ বাসে চাপলাম। ফারাক্কা পার হতেই মুষলধারে ঝড় ও বৃষ্টি শুরু হল। গাড়ির চালক ধিরে ধিরে বাসটিকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যেতে থাকে । এইভাবে রানাঘাট পৌঁছে দেখি চারিদিকে গছপালা লন্ডভন্ড অবস্থায় পড়ে রয়েছে। তখনও পর্যন্ত প্রচন্ড গতিতে ঝড় বইছে৷ আমরা অফিসে ঢুকে টাকা জমা করে দিলামএবং কিছু চুক্তি পেপারে সই করিয়ে নিল। তারপর একটি address ও সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ নম্বর লিখে দিল। আর বলে address দেওয়া জায়গায় পৌঁছে লিখিত মোবাইল নম্বর এ কল করবে। উনি এসে তোমাদেরকে নিয়ে যাবেন। এরপর আমরা অটো করে রানাঘাট জংশনে পৌঁছে টিকিট কেটে নিলাম শিয়ালদহ স্টেশনে যাওয়ার জন্য। তখন ঘড়িতে দূপুর একটা বাজে । চার জনেরই পেটে ছুচো ডন দিচ্ছে। ট্রেনে চেপে চিড়া ভাজা কিনে খেলাম। কিন্তু যাবার পথে এক বিপদ ঘটে গেল। ট্রেন আটকে গেছে। এক দিকে ক্ষুধার জ্বালা অন্যদিকে ট্রেন চলাচল বন্ধ হয়ে যাওয়া। শুনলাম রেল লাইনের বিদ্যুৎ এর তারের উপর বিধ্বংসী ঝড়ের দাপটে একটি গাছ ভেঙ্গে পড়েছে। বাকি অংশটির জন্য পরের এপিসোড চোখ রাখুন। ধন্যবাদ৷........ ####
