ফাস্ট ইয়ার পাশ করার পর সেকন্ড ইয়ারে ভর্তি হই । কিন্তু ঠিক সেই সময় একটি ঘটনা ঘটেছিল আমার। বাবা আমাকে বলে দিলেন যে - " যদি তুমি পড়াশোনা করতে চাও তাহলে টাকা উপার্জন করে পড়ো । আমি তোমার পড়াশোনার খরচ করতে পারব না "। বাবার এই কথা বলার পিছনে এক বিশেষ রহস্য ছিল । কারণ আমার বোন তখন একাদশ শ্রেণিতে পড়ত। হয়তো এখানে আর খুলে বলার দরকার নেই সেই রহস্যের কথা । আপনারা নিশ্চয়ই বুঝতে পারছেন। বাবার কথা শুনে আমাকে খুব খারাপ লাগে । তারপর দুই তিন দিন এইভাবে সময় অতিবাহিত হয় । কোনো কিছুই ভাল লাগছিল না । তবে ঠান্ডা মাথায় চিন্তা করে আমি একটি উপায় বের করি । আগে আমাকে টাকা উপার্জন করতে হবে , তারপর পড়াশোনা করব। কখনো আবার ভাবতাম - যদি কোনও এক মহান ব্যক্তি আমার পড়াশোনার খরচ চালাত, তাহলে আমি কঠোর পরিশ্রম দিয়ে পড়াশোনা চালিয়ে যেতাম । পরক্ষনেই আবার ভাবি যে এইরকম ব্যক্তি খুঁজে পাওয়া খুব কঠিন । এরপর বাড়ি থেকে বেরিয়ে কালী মন্দিরের বারান্দায় গিয়ে বসে আছি । কিছুক্ষণ পর সেখানে গ্রামের ছেলেরা, যথাক্রমে- বাবলু রায়, সুমীন সরকার (ভীম), দীপক রায়, বিষ্নু রাজবংশী ও আমার সেজো মাসীর ছেলে গৌরাঙ্গ চক্রবর্তী এসে হাজির হয় । বাবলু আমাকে বলে - একাই বসে বসে কী ভাবছিস ? আমি আমার বিষয়টা বাবলুকে খুলে বলি। সে আমাকে বলে আমরা সবাই মিলে নেপাল যাচ্ছি প্লাই বোর্ডের কোম্পানীতে কাজ করতে । যদি তুই যেতে চাস তাহলে আমাদের সঙ্গে আসতে পারিস । আমিও ভাবলাম প্রস্তাবটি কার্যকর করা সম্ভব । পরেরদিন আমরা সবাই মিলে ঠিকাদারের সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গিয়েছিলাম । ঠিকাদার বলল - আপনারা সবাই আসতে পারেন , কোনও সমস্যা হবে না । তবে তারিখ অনুযায়ী কালিয়াগঞ্জ বাস স্ট্যান্ড এ সকাল সাড়ে দশটা নাগাদ পৌঁছে যেতে হবে। বাকি অংশটি জন্য পরের এপিসোড এ চোখ রাখুন।
